Inaction is a choice. Action is a choice. They are two sides to the same coin called your life. No one but you can decide if you will simply accept what comes your way or live a life by design on purpose. It is completely up to you. That’s the good news.
So, if the only person holding you back is you…what’s up with that? I say this not from a place of judgment but from a place of been there, done it, done with it. There is inspiration and support all around us if we’re willing to venture outside our comfort zone. That’s another two sided coin.
A comfort zone may keep us safe but it isn’t as cushy as it sounds. Often it can be a space that would seem, from the outside, to be very uncomfortable…a place where we are living in pain or suffering. However, when that is something we know well, know how to navigate and have figured out ways to cope and get by it can, in a strange way, become comfortable. We know what to expect there which can seem much better than facing the unknown.
To grab a piece of inspiration, check out Britta Aragon’s wonderful blog post about a cancer survivor who is stepping well outside any comfort zone I can imagine. Click here to read Britta’s story about Terri Wingham who is traveling the world volunteering on almost every continent to raise awareness for her personal project…a non-profit to help survivors heal through giving back to others.
Terri is still in need of funding to continue her mission so please check out the link to donate…just $5.00 will help. If you’ve got a story about why it’s uncomfortable to give $5.o0 today, I invite you to give it up…even if it means bypassing Starbucks once this week…and take an action to make a difference.
So, today…take a pass on inaction and invest 5 minutes and $5.00…or pass along this story…another way to choose to support. The beauty of the ripple effect is that often only the universe sees how far it goes…therein lies the magic and the web of connection.

What an honour. Thank you so much for your support, your comment, and this post. You and Britta are so wonderful and I hope that together we can help other survivors feel less alone. Keep up your amazing work. Big Valentine’s Day hugs from New Delhi and thanks again! Terri
Every journey begins with a single step. And, that means stretching outside the comfort zone. The goal is to find a zone that not only exudes more comfort, but one that provides manifold new relief and benefit.
Over and over again surviving anything means deciding on LIFE and making things happen because we make a decision. Terri, have fun on your journey
I love your point on reaching into a zone outside comfort which can, in fact, eventually give us far more than staying in what feels comfortable can. Great observation, Roy.
You’re so on the money, Roberta…it all comes down to decision and choice.
Terri, you are so welcome. It was a small gesture relative to the awesome task you have taken on. Wishing you well in your journeys and excited to hear more about your experiences abroad.
