My interview with the founder of DREAMBEANIES, Kelly Moses, continues…
What were some of the challenges you faced?
Some of the challenges were to design a product that is beautiful and stylish, yet comfortable for someone undergoing medical procedures and treatments. Something that is easy to use and take care of. I wanted a product that would allow someone who has partial or full hair loss to go out into the world without feeling self conscious and instead feel confident and beautiful.
What strengths or tools did you tap into to overcome those challenges?
I drew from my personal experience working with friends and clients who have gone through chemo, who have gone through surgeries or accidents. I listened to their experiences, wants and needs.
How has helping others impacted your life?
Working with chemo patients and creating DREAMBEANIES has changed my life in a way like no other experience. We can be so caught up in our everyday lives, our annoyances, our errands and problems. We forget sometimes to stop and be grateful for just being healthy. We don’t think about what a blessing it is to be able to live our lives the way we do.
When illness enters someone’s life it makes you realize how precious life is. Working with DREAMBEANIES has made me a more humble, compassionate and better person. DREAMBEANIES has given me something in my life that not only am I passionate about but that can really change someone else’s life.
How can people learn more about you and your product?
People can visit my website they can follow me on Twitter at: twitter@dreambeanies. They can also email me at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Is there anything else you would like to share?
One of the goals of DREAMBEANIES is to be able to supply DREAMBEANIES to cancer patients who cannot afford them. Especially kids who are suffering from diseases that cause hair loss. We are already working with Cedars Sinai. Currently, we are using our own resources to fund the donations. We hope to receive financial help from private donors or corporations to help supply DREAMBEANIES to those that need, but cannot afford them.
Kelly, thank you for sharing your story and for all you do to bring some comfort and confidence to cancer survivors and others suffering hair loss due to illness. It is a mission from the heart.
